Race Alert Center!

10.6.2015, Tuesday, 11:30 am – We thank you all for your understanding as we sort out the aftermath of the weekend race cancellation. We will be mailing out your t-shirts, bibs, GU and finisher medals in the coming weeks so please be patient as this is a large undertaking. We also will be sorting out the proceeds from the race and will be setting up check presentations to our charity partners such as Back on My Feet, Autism Speaks, RunningBrooke Fund, Capital Area Food Bank, Strive For Tri and Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (TNT) who will appreciate receiving much larger donations than they ever expected.

Over the past few days, we have been working with some of our other race director friends to provide other fall race options at a significant discount to you. In some cases, WWBH will be subsidizing your entry fees to run another race(s) this season. We appreciate these race directors’ generosity and cooperation on behalf of our runners. The list of four area races with whom we are working – Freedom’s Run Half Marathon, Potomac River Run Half Marathon, .US National 12k Championships and Annapolis Running Classic – will be emailed to you today with detailed information.

Run with a Purpose

Run with a purpose; run for a purpose. Race for one of our charity partners.

Run for a Purpose

My Bridge. Your Race. My Face.

You run over my bridge every fall. The race is named after me, so why am I not the face of this race? Well that’s about to change. Woody Wilson is now the face of the one of the best half marathons in the US. Check out the new logo!

Not a Runner? Volunteer!

Putting on a premier distance event takes many people of many talents. Along with the year-long planning process, there are many opportunities to be a part of this great event on race weekend. Volunteer assignments include but are not limited to Packet Stuffing, Packet Pick up, Greeters, Bag Check, Bag Claim, Beer Servers, Finisher Medal Distribution, and many more. Checkout these fun opportunities in National Harbor, Maryland and Alexandria, Virginia at the “Volunteer Opportunities” link below.

Organize your community, corporate, or student group to man a waterstop or one of 13 mile markers, assemble race packets, support the Race Expo Event, or a medical aid station. Show your organization’s excitement and vie for the “Best Spirit” competition.

We are committed to having the safest race possible. To that end, we invite medical professionals to volunteer their expertise to support the half marathon. You must have one or more of the following medical credentials: MD, PA, RN, PT, ATC, NP, DPM, DO, EMT, paramedic or military corpsman. If you are certified and would like to be a medical volunteer, contact Steve Nearman.
